NPC

NPCs (Non Player Characters) are encountered in the Asteroid Belt and the Deep Asteroid Belt. They attack any passing ship and can be quite dangerous. The modified stats as well as the base stats determine which type of NPC can be encountered.

The NPCs have variable engines stat; The numbers below are a range of observed engine stats.

The heavier NPCs have two weapons: A main weapon and a secondary weapon - both are listed below, with the main weapon first.

• The main weapon that fires every turn (bar malfunctions and misses) and is affected by the enemys defense stat (like PC weapons). The list below indicates assumed maximum damage, before reduction, from the main weapon.
• NPC main weapons can have very high minimum damage values, too. If a range of values is shown, the low value indicates an observed minimum damage.
• The secondary weapon fires only occasionally (every third turn or so, but randomly), and its attack is not affected by defense stats. The best defense against the secondary weapon is therefore lots of hull points, and a powerful first strike. The list below indicates maximum observed damage from secondary weapons.
