Well, only about 400 spots between my level and total research. Cargo is a bit low after buying 2 PEs, but the weapons boost is helping a good amount. Instead of having a 20% malf, I now only have 10% malf. This early on, having the gear to change between builds is very expensive. Spending money and selling stuff would not be a bad investment but the trade off for those that are hurting for cash is to choose one build for gear and just build it up. Eventually, this can become a big problem as the most successful are those that can adapt.
I have found a few things at this point though. THe levels come fast and furious up until you get to the 20s. Once you hit the 20s, the rate slows down as the mid-20s seems to be a research hot spot for many. Instead of being able to level quickly and easily on NPCs, the Deep Belt will kill you without pause and the Asteroid Belt is showing diminishing returns for the fuel spent. As far as attacking other players, they are researching and it is much harder to find people that are beatable without better gear. For those that are on a leveling burn, better gear is needed. The easiest way to do this, is to buy and sell points and AICBs. For those that are starting to do a research burn, AICBs and points are your bread and butter unless you are willing to take your time. What does all of this mean? Join a fleet. Fleets often have good gear and a decent labcoat. These combine to make a fleet very attractive as the player does not need to sink their personal cargo into gear such as AIs, ETs, c7 drives, c7 shields, PEs, and more.
