Adelai Niska arrived at Mars Station on one of the last refugee transports from the Inner System. Fragmentary texts retrieved from (variously) Mars Security and on-Station media include the following (redacted) information:

"Subject identified himself as &CN Adelai Niska on inprocessing by Mars Station Security and offered no other identification. Subject is male and appears to be mid-50s in age. Subject obtained provisional permission for residence on arrival under the Refugee (Temporary Provision) Order."

"Subject may be cognate with Ivan Aleksandrovich NIKITIN (P009784328) aka &CN YELLOWHAMMER (see CX-003-409874). NIKITIN is a former State Security operator of the defunct National Security Authority of the Russian Free State and may have operated covertly as a union organiser on the construction crew of Proserpine Station in that capacity...."

"...source states &CN ADELAI NISKA is closely associated with RFS NSA remnant groupings throughout the System and is thought to have had a 'senior role' with the Action Arm of the NSA paramilitary organisation. "

"It is not clear where &CN ADELAI NISKAvobtained the finance for his recent purchase of a Sloop, nor for the sucessive upgrades to a Warship in a surprisingly short time. Certainly, he appears to have boosted the technical capacity of his vehicles to a surprising level through research, but this, too, is an expensive exercise. It is speculated by the Mars Revenue Service that the subject may have occasional access to former NSA contingency funds and may also enjoy some financial support from trade unions throughout the System."

"Dashing Captain Kerravyn of the oh-so-scary (but somehow romantic) The Star Fraction Fleet and the dour and determinedly independent Captain Niska, thought by many to the be the Last Bolshevik Alive, have been observed in close negotiation. The hot tip is that the Reds in Space have secured their latest recruit. Remember, folks, you saw it here, first!"

"Interviewed by our Independent Captains Correspondent, Sumilla Jensen Bachataryan, all a taciturn Captain Niska could be persuaded to say was: "I am delighted to have had my application to join the Star Fraction accepted and I look forward to a long and successful collaboration with my ideological cousins. All power to the Soviets!". Captain Niska is thought to be visiting the Lower Belt for business purposes and may return to Uranus later in the month."
