Snakehead Games, Inc.

Snakehead Games (SHG) develops and manages free, highly social, casual browser based games. We’ve given the world Star Pirates and Spybattle 2165, two great browser-based games set at different points in a gripping cyberpunk dystopia, and brought the drama and spectacle of Imperial Rome with Coliseum.

Division 2

We’ve also recently added a second division, creatively named Division 2, to develop Flash-based Casual Apps. These will target Mobile phones, but also other relevant platforms. Division 2’s new games are mostly snippets of the StarCrash Universe (wait for the Debris Search version of Recycle Time!). We’re known for cool space games; so why not continue the tradition? Plus, if we do our jobs right, existing community members love ‘em, as do new players. And, ideally, the new players will wanna check out the MotherShip games.

Community

What sets us apart is that the games are built by gamers who love community. We don’t build games and set them adrift – everyone at SHG is highly involved in the communities, playing, listening and joining conversations about the games. Players have told us again, and again, how they love that plus the contests, shoutbox, wars, fleets, factions and other social sides of the game. When you join an SHG game, you join a community.

The community as a whole makes many of the in-game decisions, but the real leaders of the community are found throughout the game, including the volunteers who help coordinate things – the Greeters and the Moderators.

So let us introduce you to the staff…

Partners

Greg Ferguson, CEO and Architect
Greg Ferguson is the gaming visionary behind Snakehead Games. He is also the CEO and President at the board level. Greg has been programming original computer games since the tender age of ten years old, including the original “Lost City of Troy” adventure game while still in grade school.

At present, Greg has over 20 years of software development experience spanning the entire commercial versioned software development process – from product design and definition, through construction/quality assurance, field trial support and post-sale serviceability, customer relations, maintenance and support. Greg continues as both Systems Architect and Gameplay Architect for Snakehead Games. In the community, he is known as Admin256.

Chris Burr, Programmer and Financial Director
Chris quietly juggles two very diverse roles for SHG: Programmer and Financial Director. He is also the Secretary and Treasurer at the board level.

Chris is a highly experienced SQL Database Development and Web Design Specialist with years of experience in the financial and government sectors. An energetic and dynamic team player, he is skilled in PhP, MySQL, Oracle, jQuery, lua, Corona, Design packages and PowerBuilder development tools, and possessed with solid organizational, analytical and communication skills. In-game, Chris is known as AdminIce.

Colin Ferguson, Strategic, Business & Operations Director
As Managing Director of Snakehead Games, Colin Ferguson handles many of the business side functions. Primarily this means leading the strategic process and ensuring SHG has the right staff and all resources for effective implementation.

Colin is team lead on various other projects, including the new Jewels Star! Mobile Game. As with all members of Snakehead Games, Colin plays www.starpirates.net and www.spybattle.com on a daily basis, and is known as AdminArrBilly (AAB) in the SHG community.

After an International award-winning online Marketing career promoting others’ offerings, Colin started his own firms. He first developed an online social media startup, then in another venture built over 1000 high traffic websites. In 2008 he cofounded Snakehead Games and has not looked back.

Staff

Matt Collier, Web Game Developer
Matt works with the StarCrash Engine to further develop Star Pirates (www.starpirates.net) and Spy Battle (www.spybattle.com). He is the lead developer on Ascension 2 in StarPirates (and soon SpyBattle). Matt wears many hats, and happily gets his hands “dirty” dealing with the business & non-code project sides of the StarCrash Games. Matt is known as “Taerdin” in the SHG community.

Jay Lajkosz, Flash Game Developer
Jay is lead developer for Division 2, our casual games division. Jay is one of the main developers for the games Recycle Time and Spelling Bea. Using ActionScript 3 + AIR, Jay has done much of the coding for Recycle Time, now available in most mobile app stores.

Rick Smith, Flash Game Developer
Although a trained programmer, Rick’s diverse experience and creative skills allow him to work in multiple roles across both divisions. Every team needs a Swiss Army Knife; Rick is SHG’s.

Qilapid, Customer Service Representative (CSR)

Qilapid is the main CSR for Spybattle 2165. The CSR role is a contract, meaning that the hours are varied based upon need. Qil manages many of the day-to-day in-game duties, including awarding prizes to winners of contests, defeating multi-accounters, and discussing admin-level game issues with players. In the physical world, Qil juggles many contracts and enjoys pursuing higher education. (Between you and me, we think he’s a little addicted to school…)
